Should professional engineering get certified in the same way as doctor or lawyer?

Based on our research, we conclude that professional engineer should be certified in the same way as doctors or lawyer. It is because engineering can change on what we are doing in our daily life. For example, an engineering who build a bridge must have a professionalism so that the bridge doesn’t collapsed and cost other people’s life, same goes to skyscraper. This is to ensure public safety so that we can avoid any random guy with a little bit a knowledge about engineering to involve themselves into the project. By the certifying the engineering we can easily classified them into their own specialized area for example electrical engineering, geomatics, engineering blueprint, quantity surveyor and consultant.

Advantages

  •           Engineering certification brings with it industry recognition, improved job opportunities and  improved pay.
  •          The engineering certification industry is open to anyone of all ages and background.
Disadvantages

  •          The certification can cost an arm and a leg
  •           There are too many engineering certification that can lap with other certification, for example people who study geography and people who study geomatics learns the same thing even though it was a different course.
